Background: Catherine’s childhood is overshadowed by her mother’s mental illness, casting a shadow over her formative years. Trapped in the throes of her mother’s condition, Catherine’s life lacks the typical joys and experiences of childhood.

Challenges: Catherine’s education is sacrificed in the face of her mother’s mental health struggles. All financial resources are diverted towards medication and treatment for her mother, leaving little to spare for Catherine’s education or well-being.

Daily life: Despite her young age, Catherine has never had the opportunity to experience formal education. Her energy is exerted into basic house chores to help her struggling mother.
